A grand stylish soirée is taking over a popular Vancouver art hub this month.
The Vancouver Art Gallery's first big public party in years will debut an impressive collection of couture, streetwear, sneakers, and designs that linger on the edge of fashion and contemporary art, from big-name designers to B.C.'s own Indigenous artists.
As guests arrive to the fashionable function, titled Art Party, they will pose in voguish looks on a red carpet before continuing into the glamorous art gallery where there will be dancing, cocktails, performances, and live models parading Indigenous fashion.
The event's theme, Fashion Fictions, coincides with the art gallery's spring exhibition of the same name which "explores how fashion defines our visions of the future," explains the Vancouver Art Gallery. Party guests will be getting a first-look at the exhibition before it opens to the public.
The exhibit features over 50 designers such as Balmain, Comme des Garçons, Alexander McQueen, Caroline Monnet, Nike, SCRY, Scarlett Yang, and many others.
"Featuring a diverse range of garments, footwear, accessories, headpieces and wearable technology, much of the exhibition is comprised of work produced in the last ten years – exemplifying fashion designers’ responses to the unique cultural conditions of the 2010s and early 2020s," notes the art gallery.
Tickets are split into three tiers; the Standard non-member ticket ($50) includes one complimentary drink and access to all featured exhibitions, the Member ticket ($35) includes one complimentary drink, access to the Member's Lounge, and early entry, and the Premium ticket ($150) allows guests to skip the line-up entry and provides access to the Rooftop Lounge with a dedicated bar, passed hors d'oeuvres, two complimentary drinks, and special performances.
Premium tickets are limited.
